Position Overview


Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Environmental & Corporate Social Responsibility Manager (CSR) is responsible for driving the strategic aspects of the Environmental department for the Mississauga Cement Plant and help further our social responsibility mission, and differentiate our cement plant as socially responsible.

This position will also help engage the cement plant in new philanthropic campaigns and social causes, as well as coordinating and executing existing campaigns, programs and internal communications that align with the corporation's business objectives.

The leader will contribute to the business success through the support you provide as well as your contributions to continuous environmental performance and being able to ensure the business complies with environmental regulations through on-going education and communication while ensuring safety of personnel and environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage environmental management system, including approvals under EPA and OWRA
  • Support path to carbon neutral operations by facilitating ECA amendments and obtain other permits as required
  • Manage air and water quality monitoring, testing and modelling requirements
  • Assume primary responsibility for structuring and executing initiatives, developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses, and developing recommendations for action
  • Monitor and report environmental performance
  • Work in partnership with the management team to provide environmental and sustainability guidance on business issues
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the business strategies and objectives
  • Supervise crossfunctional teams able to set goals and develop talent
  • Provide training to plant personnel on key environmental issues, environmental requirements and compliance.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to Business Operations and Corporate Environmental programs
  • Provide thought leadership by continuously researching and learning about a quickly evolving regulatory and technological environment
  • Ensuring a company has a positive impact on local communities and the environment
  • Writing and actioning a company's social responsibility strategy
  • Encouraging links between the company and educational or charitable groups
  • Support plant and quarry Community Advisory Panel
  • Attend related work community events in evening and weekends as required

Qualifications
Education/Experience

  • Degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science or related technical field
  • Graduate degree M. Eng or MBA, are preferred but not required
  • Professional designation such as P. Eng are preferred but not required
  • 57 years work experience
Work Requirements

  • Experience with industrial environmental compliance & reporting
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Implementation and Maintenance are preferred
Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and various business disciplines
  • Knowledge of the principles of Sustainable Development and Construction
  • Demonstrate strong performance managing environmental and business risk and due diligence
