Job Description:

Algonquin College is changing the world - one learner at a time.

Headquartered in Ottawa, on the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People, the College has a learner-drive culture and is one of Canada's leading publicly funded polytechnic institutes.

The College has a strong focus on providing a future-focused polytechnic education that embraces and values the diversity of its learners and academic teams and fosters a flexible learning environment that will meet their needs and those of an evolving Canadian economy.

It is within this context that the College is seeking its next Vice President, Student Services.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (President), the Vice President, Student Services (Vice President) provides strategic oversight for the Student Services portfolio and leads a team of 300 full and part-time employees.

These employees serve a diverse student population of over 21,000 full-time and nearly 9,000 part-time registrants.

As a key member of the executive team, the Vice President actively collaborates with the President and senior management in providing college-wide leadership, strategic planning, and administrative decision-making.

The College operates as a learner-driven organization and the Vice President plays an important role in supporting this strategy by leading a wide breadth of services, including academic support, career and employment, orientation, mental health and wellness, accessibility, physical health and wellness, and student experience.

Additionally, the Vice President also leads a group focused on the needs of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis learners as well as leading the Office of the Ombudsman.

The Vice President also assists the President in advising the Board of Governors on corporate issues related to Student Services and represents the College externally on various committees, acting as a liaison with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and other post-secondary institutions.

Additionally, the Vice President is responsible for College Marketing and Student Recruitment, ensuring that enrollment and retention targets are achieved.

They also lead the Office of Indigenous Initiatives, providing vision and leadership for Indigenization at the College. Finally, the Vice President serves as the senior management liaison with a large and dynamic Students' Association.

The salary range for this role is $164,375 to $219,167, with a targeted hiring range determined based upon experience.
