Role Responsibilities:


  • Manages the development and delivery of the ministry's ongoing stakeholder relationship management framework and strategy.
  • Builds, maintains, and leverages relationships internally to ensure program area expertise is infused in engagement plans and materials and conversely, that the results of the engagement will be implementable given the realities of a program area (e.g. fiscal and human resource constraints).
  • Initiates ongoing contact with key stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of issues, positions, perspectives, and possible future directions.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of a departmentwide stakeholder listing for upcoming and future engagements.
  • Leads/participates on various regional, provincial, crossministry and multistakeholder working committees (e.g. Police Act Working Group, Corrections Act, working groups, engagement community of practice).
  • Oversees and leads the development and execution of engagement plans and strategies for key priority initiatives.
  • Manages Secretariat support to special advisors to the Ministry of PSES as required to ensure ongoing forums and mechanisms for community engagement.
  • Oversees a group of professionals in their support to special advisors (e.g.
Hate Crimes Liaisons, Indigenous Advisory Committees), which may include:


  • Directing jurisdictional scans and relevant research;
  • Assisting with the flow of information between the advisors and the Ministry of PSES;
  • Overseeing the coordinating of agenda planning and scheduling meetings between the liaison and stakeholders, including ensuring all necessary materials are sent out in advance of all meetings;
  • Managing the writing of updates and final recommendations.
  • Provides key support to the planning and execution of employee engagement and diversity and inclusion strategies for PSES.
  • Support both Justice and PSES in the collation of best practices for employee engagement and manage plans for ministrywide employee engagement activities
  • Provide leadership in the development of diversity and inclusion plans and activities, including reporting of results results, to the Ministries' senior management team. With an eye for continual innovation, liaises with crossministry and government employee engagement leads to leverage innovative ideas for implementation across the ministry
  • Manages the planning and execution of public facing Ministry events.
  • Steers the event planning process for the Police and Peace Officer Memorial Day, Human Trafficking Day and Community Justice Awards large scale public events that gather a high amount of media, public and political involvement. Interfaces with stakeholders, government officials, and elected officials to prepare for and execute events.
  • Team leadership and development.
  • Oversees professional staff in the formulation of engagement strategies and their execution, ensuring resources are deployed efficiently and effectively to manage a highly paced workload and service demands from two ministries.
  • Builds and maintains a collaborative, motivated and high performance work unit.

Qualifications:

University Degree plus a minimum of 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Master's level education would be an asset
