    Role Responsibilities

    Are you looking for an opportunity to work outdoors in Southern Alberta's beautiful parks? Then this opportunity may be perfect for you

    The SW Area of Alberta Parks (including the Castle/Pincher Creek) is looking for a motivated and organized Park Maintenance Supervisor to help keep our Provincial Parks and recreation areas looking beautiful. This permanent, full-time position will support the Park Maintenance Team Lead with the repair and upkeep of park infrastructure, equipment maintenance, start up and shutdown of campgrounds and day use areas, and recruitment and training of seasonal staff. The base of operation will be located at Beauvais Lake Provincial Park.

    Most of the work for this position will take place outdoors, surrounded by southern Alberta's stunning mountains, lakes, forests and grasslands. The work will challenge your problem-solving abilities and build your technical skills. This job can be physically demanding, including the use of hand and power tools and the operation of vehicles with towing capability, and also requires some understanding of computer operations for administrative tasks. Water Distribution and Wastewater collection experience would be an asset but not required to this position.

    As part of the Maintenance team, you will strive to maintain Alberta Parks' high standards ensuring quality customer service and high safety standards. This position contributes to protecting the health and safety of park visitors and staff, maintaining the park's natural beauty, maximizing the life span of infrastructure, and ensuring effective use of equipment and facilities.

    Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and training staff to ensure all work is conducted in an efficient and safe manner, adhering to all applicable worksite health and safety requirements.
  • Maintaining Park grounds and facilities to provide a safe, high-quality visitor experience
  • Providing on-site support and coordination of daily tasks
  • Ensuring assigned equipment and fleet vehicles are maintained to required standards to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Conducting purchasing and procurement for park operations, while adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Supporting effective contract management of contracted services such as the removal of solid and liquid waste, basic cleaning, etc.
  • Reporting back to supervisor on completed tasks and identifying outstanding maintenance issues
  • Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and parks conditions, as needed
  • Working alongside the maintenance service team to ensure daily activities and projects are completed to a high standard:
  • Routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities including campgrounds, day use areas and trails systems
  • Routine lawn and grounds maintenance
  • Routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment
  • Trail and sign projects
  • Safely operating small and mid-size equipment
