Join the Renewed Seneca, The Next Seneca
:

Guided by _The Next - A Strategic Plan for Seneca Polytechnic_, we offer a working environment that is innovative, healthy, flexible and encourages risk-taking.

Joining Seneca Polytechnic brings opportunities for professional development and career growth, with supports available for health and wellbeing in all its forms - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual - to support the whole person.

If you think it's all about communication, then we need you
:

You love nothing better than a well-told storyfrom an engaging video posted to social media to a classic novel and everything in between.

And sometimes, like Seinfeld, the story can even be about nothing. But it has to always be interesting, engaging and sometimes just fun.

You are equally excited about the future of storytelling. A.I. intrigues you, even if it scares you a little.

You wake up in the morning and immediately start checking your many social media feeds. You just have to know what's going on in the world.

You read an article and start to rewrite the lead in your head. You're appalled by the typos and wonder where the editors went.

If you're this kind of person, Seneca is looking for you as our new Head of Communications - a senior communications expert who is creative, engaged, digitally savvy, has impeccable editorial skills and wants to tell a story, always.

Seneca recently launched a new Strategic Plan. At its core is providing a great student and employee experience.

And one way we're focusing on doing that well is through engaging communications that connect with our many audiences - students, employees, alumni, academic and industry partners, donors and more.

To help us get there, we're looking for someone who:

  • Gets that listening is the key to communicating
  • Can operate at different levels from big picture strategic to being immersed in the details
  • Is comfortable in print, video, digital and social and has a natural curiosity to figure out what comes next
  • Can handle multiple demands on their time and address tough situations
  • Is friendly, fun, observant, confident, engaging, creative
  • Is inventive, pushing for new and innovative ways to reach out and engage community
  • Understands that brand matters — what and how we communicate can be a differentiator

Here's some of what your role will involve:

  • Working collaboratively with great people across Seneca to tell their stories
  • Telling the Seneca story in different ways to different audiences
  • Leading a terrific team of communication experts, supporting them to be their best creative selves
  • Developing strategies for reaching a variety of stakeholders, internal and external, local and international, and through a variety of channels
  • Creating strong networks with traditional media, social media and across Seneca so you and your team can share our stories across all platforms

Okay, there has to be a section on education and experience, so here it isbut if it doesn't fit exactly with who you are and what you can offer, don't let it stop you from applying.

Tell us your story and let us decide.

What You Bring Seneca:

  • You have a postsecondary credential, or more than one, in communications, journalism, public relations or a similar area of study. We're interested not only in what you studied at school, but how you've applied it to your career.
  • You have years of experience working in communications, journalism or a related field and have worked in video, audio, photography and graphics.
  • You've led a team in an environment that is deadlinebased and has really high standards for quality.
  • You've managed complex and sensitive issues respectfully.
  • You work extremely well with people all people.
Give us your best pitch.

Are we asking for a lot? Yes, we are. Seneca is a great place to work, and this is a great opportunity.
