Salary $79,048 - $92,

Hours Normal Working Hours 37.5 hours per week

Location Lindsay

Other Combination of general office environment and travel to outlying locations, in accordance with job requirements. Attending meetings, such as Council, conferences and departmental emergency situations, which may be outside of normal business hours. This position may be offered as partial or fully remote.


Essential Duties

  • Investigate claims and prepares documentation to deal directly with claimants and outside claimant representatives on routine claims. In accordance with established practices, determines when claims should be referred to outside adjusters and/or internal or external counsel
  • Liaise with adjuster, broker, insurer and outside legal counsel on claims, insurance, and risk management matters and ensure claims are managed in a timely and professional matter and settled to an approved limit
  • Respond to claims incidents on a timely basis and liaise with the supervising staff on the scene to ensure Corporate interests are protected
  • Liaise with City staff in the documentation and investigation of insurance claims and ensure that loss incident reports are being completed and risk management standards as set out by the City are being adhered to
  • Recover monies owed to the Corporation as a result of damage caused by third parties to City property
  • Attend court and investigatory hearings on claims related matters
  • Review all insurance policy documentation for completeness and accuracy; Ensure all required certificates of insurance from contractors/vendors are gathered and in compliance
  • Provide review and assessment of tender documentation and City agreements to ensure appropriate indemnification and adequate insurance requirements are being provided by third parties

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environment, including experience in insurance, claims, and risk management
  • Working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Fellowship Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), or Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) designation, or willingness to obtain
  • General familiarity with auto, property, boiler and machinery and commercial general liability lines of insurance coverage and management of claims thereof
  • Knowledge of errors and omissions and pollution liability insurance
  • Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills; Excellent written communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated customer service skills at a level to develop and maintain cooperative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated timemanagement skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and tact and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
at all times, complying with all applicable privacy legislation and local policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet and any other related software
  • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence or the ability to attend to frequently to work related activities at various sites within the municipality or at other sites within Ontario
