About the Job:
The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for supporting the accounting department by performing clerical tasks, including checking, processing, and recording bills and invoices, answering queries, and other duties to support the finance team.
This is a 6 month contract position, and a hybrid role with 1-2 times a week in the Toronto office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurately process and enter accounts payable invoices in the ERP as per the scheduled timelines
- Review, record, and process employee expense reports in SAP
- Review and process corporate credit card statements with receipts and supporting documents
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and approval processes
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Act as the first point of contact to vendors and employees with invoice or expense reimbursement inquiries
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations
- Proactively contact key vendors to request updated statements and ensure balances are reconciled
- Assist in monthend close process by preparing accrual journal entries and account reconciliations
Preferred Skills and Experiences:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- 1 to 5 years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of Accounting and Financial principles
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
