Highlights of the job

  • We are hiring a Full Time Permanent Project Manager position working out of Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant in Edmonton, AB.


This includes ensuring accurate and timely delivery of project plans, liaising with impacted stakeholders, managing the quality of works implemented, obtaining accurate cost estimates, adhering to approved budgets, managing safety and environmental aspects, scheduling of all design and construction project activities, and achieving the required outcomes with typical time spans (longest target completion time) of 3 months to 2 years.


  • What you'd be responsible for

_ Planning_

_ _

  • Developing and implementing the procurement strategy for the delivery of concurrent projects including key considerations of risk, stakeholders, and the broader business and regulatory environment
  • Developing and implementing the project management plan including other key plans such as scope, cost, time, human resources, quality, communication, stakeholder, financial, safety, environmental and integration

_ Delivery_

  • Using best practices in project management and project execution to manage the delivery and implementation of capital projects for EPCOR infrastructure
  • Safely delivering projects and programs on time, on scope, and on budget within the set quality standard
  • Considering operational and public impacts, risks, integration opportunities with other projects, and aligning with established priorities developed in the business unit and across EPCOR
  • Managing a diverse project team to achieve project objectives
  • Monitoring and controlling the delivery of capital projects against appropriate performance metrics and making timely adjustments to ensure overall targets are achieved or exceeded
  • Identifying the necessary budget requirements for implementation of projects including engineering design and construction
  • Assisting with the development, implementation and review of project management processes and improvements to ensure compliance to policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, mitigation of risks and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring EPCOR contractor management and HSE policies and procedures are communicated, monitored, executed and supported through the planning and execution of work
  • Assisting with the development and execution of communication plans as required to manage relationships with customers and other stakeholders

_ Risk Management_

  • Managing the mitigation of Project Management risks by ensuring the development, implementation and review of appropriate control mechanisms
  • Adhering to Integrated Management Systems (IMS) where applicable, and assisting with necessary audits and other improvements as required
  • Engaging key stakeholders, including other areas of Water Services and business units within EPCOR, contractors, consultants, suppliers, vendors, utility companies, regulatory agencies, private sector entities, and the public
  • What's required to be successful
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Diploma from an accredited engineering technology program
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation with APEGA, or C.E.T. designation with ASET
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be an asset
  • Financial and managementrelated education or experience would be an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in engineering design and construction project management for individuals holding a P.Eng. or 7 years for applicants with a C.E.T
  • Experience managing multiple small to large sized, moderately complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects with a leadership and collaborative decisionmaking capacity, overseeing project teams with some supervision and guidance
