The Ministry of the Solicitor General is seeking five (5) motivated individuals to manage the Provincial Dispatch & Transportation Unit, provide strategic leadership and direction, and oversee a 24/7 front-line operation.

In this position, you will manage a large team in the delivery of dispatch and mortuary services, programs and procedures that are integral to the death investigation system in Ontario.

The Office of the Chief Coroner (OCC) for Ontario provides death investigations and inquests to ensure that no death will be overlooked, concealed or ignored.

The findings are used to generate recommendations to help improve public safety and prevent deaths in similar circumstances.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage dispatch and mortuary services by providing strategic oversight of the development, delivery, evaluation, and enhancement of programs, systems and policies and procedures
  • Provide direction and leadership to dispatch and mortuary teams to effectively deliver service operations
  • Oversee the development and implementation of operational training, policies and procedures and stringent health and safety programs/protocols for the delivery of effective mortuary and body management services
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance policies and standard operating procedures during all aspects of the death investigation process.
  • Coordinate facilities management requests and equipment procurement and associated financial responsibilities in a contact centre and complex service delivery environment.
  • On a rotational basis, provide 24/7, afterhours, oncall management oversight for the 24/7 provincial dispatch and body transportation programs
  • Develop and recommend evidencebased program/service delivery options and best operational practices and standards in a high volume, timesensitive environment
  • Participate in modernizing operational policies, procedures and standards.
