Wise Publishing is a growing digital publication with a focus on personal finance.

We are looking to expand our content team in Toronto with the addition of an editor specializing in mortgages and other forms of borrowing.

About the Role
We need a stand-out editor with a keen eye for detail and an unflappable ability to multitask.
You will lead a small team of writers and reporters to create high-quality, engaging and profitable content for MoneyWise.

You will be responsible for the continued mentorship and development of writers in your areas of expertise, including training and providing feedback through one-on-one conversations.

You are comfortable analyzing surveys, studies and government reports and dissecting complex information to dive into various personal finance topics.

You're also motivated, with a knack for following the news and highlighting interesting trends.

While you will work in close contact with other editors, you must be able to edit and publish high-quality work with mínimal oversight.

This is a fast-paced environment in which you will be enthusiastic about learning new things and being flexible.


Responsibilities:


  • Contributing original articles occasionally
  • New article ideation based on news, trending topics and original analysis
  • Skillfully editing and factchecking articles for sameday publication
  • Assisting in the direct promotion of stories on social media
  • Managing writers' schedules and contributing to project calendars
  • Assisting in the hiring, training and developing writers and editors
  • Managing a stable of freelancers and ensuring quality output

  • Familiarity with content management systems
  • Proven writing and editing skills, good instincts for flow and organization

  • Experience writing about personal finance topics
  • Knowledge of or experience with SEO strategies
  • Knowledge of or experience with editorial social media strategy — TikTok and Instagram knowledge a plus
  • Flexibility to pivot quickly with shifting goals of team and organization
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, cooperate and develop skills on an ongoing basis
