Position Purpose summary:


The Residential Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day to day management and operations of a residential home in consultation with the Coordinator of Residential Services while ensuring a healthy and safe environment.

This position is one of direct support and requires the incumbent to provide all necessary assistance to the members including emotional and physical support along with crisis intervention during their schedule shift.


Rotation schedule as follows:
Week 1

Monday ( 1pm to 11 pm)

Tuesday (1 pm to 11 pm )

Wednesday (11 a.m. - 11 p.m )

Thursday (off)

Friday (off)

Week 2

Saturday (10:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.)

Sunday y (10:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.)

Monday (off)

Tuesday (off)

Wednesday (off)

Thursday (1:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.)

Friday (1:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.)

Note:

Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described below but perform a similar range of duties as per the directive of the Coordinator of Residential Services.


Accountabilities:


Safety

  • Ensure processes are being followed so that members and staff live and work in a safe environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations are being adhered to by all, including but not limited to, working alone, food, medications, equipment, storage and maintenance.
  • Answer door and telephone during shift using proper precautions.
  • Provide crisis intervention for members as required.
  • Conduct checks to ensure the safety of the facility and members throughout their shifts.
  • Complete checksins with a designated contact in accordance with Community Venture policy and procedure.
  • Understand and promote members' rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide transportation to and from various locations while demonstrating safe driving skills.
  • Follow all traffic laws while driving defensively to ensure safety.
  • Report concerns promptly to Coordinator of Residential Services.
  • Ensure proper lifting, twisting and reaching techniques are used during job performance.
  • Use PPE provided when necessary

Health and Medical

  • Ensure individual's health and medical needs are accurately attended to in a timely fashion, and that all medication is properly administered and recorded.
  • Recognize and report concerns of abuse or neglect.
  • Provide emotional support for members as required.
  • Assist Coordinator in developing meals and meal plans, ensuring nutritious meals and snacks are prepared and provided in accordance with Canada's Food Guide and adapted to individual likes, preferences, choices and medical or religious requirements.

Person Centred Plans

  • Be involved in implementing and monitoring individual plans.
  • Provide individuals with support in preplanning by providing a mechanism to gather information on an individual's goals and desired outcomes.
  • Communicate necessary information and maintain positive relationships with other agencies or programs.

Individual Personal Development

  • Encourage and assist each individual to participate in daily activities in their homes, in employment and in the community including reinforcing work and community expectations, personal hygiene, meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry and the care of the house and yard.
  • Ensure that the environment of the program is supportive, nurturing and encourages a high degree of member involvement including decision making.
  • Role model appropriate behaviour and attitude supporting growth and promoting independence for the members.

Public Relations and Communication

  • Responsible for the wise use of member and program resources.
  • Develop opportunities for relationships with families and the community and assist individuals' to develop positive social interactions.
  • Ensures all contact with others is courteous and professional.
  • Treat all members and staff with respect and dignity at all times.

Program Development

  • Assist the Coordinator increating, managing and facilitating appropriate activities, special events and spiritual care programs according to member interest, skill and ability levels.
  • Promote social interaction and personal development.
  • Ensure all necessary components and any required documentation is completed for assigned

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:


  • Reports directly to: Coordinator of Residential Services
  • Direct reports for this position: Responsible for their own time and effort; Residential Support Workers & Residential Over Night Support Workers within the residence.
  • Provide direction and guidance, supervision, resolving conflict and employee issues where necessary with the Coordinator of Residential Services guidance.
  • Assist with staff schedule, ensuring all overtime has been approved.
  • Supervise Residential Workers that support activities of daily living including delegating tasks, providing feedback, investigating issues, and generally building an effective team.
