Responsible for the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of the consolidation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and ensuring conformance to current International Financial Reporting Standards and securities law and regulations.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements relied upon by senior executives of the Company, Board of Directors, Audit Committee and shareholders. Ensure appropriate disclosure to all parties.
(Including:

Filing of Quarterly Interim Reports, Annual Report Financial Statements and MD&A, Annual Information Form)

  • Preparation of information for senior executives, board members and the Audit Committee, as required
  • Detailed analysis of monthly results for the Chief Financial Officer, as required
  • Developing improvements with respect to reporting and investor communications
  • Assisting in the determination of appropriate accounting policies for FPLP and FP Newspapers Inc. and the implementation of such policies
  • Interpretation and implementation of new IFRS accounting guidelines and recommendations effecting the financial statements and note disclosures
  • Interpretation and implementation of new IFRS securities law related guidelines and policies
  • Document and evaluate internal controls and assist operations finance staff in developing and maintaining adequate internal control procedures and policies
  • Providing assistance to operations finance staff on Canadian reporting issues
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with the Company's external auditors and work closely with the auditors on new accounting issues
  • Act as the senior financial reporting liaison with external auditors, including but not limited to: coordinate both quarterly reviews and the annual financial audit, attend and record minutes of quarterly board meetings, and set the annual board dates
  • Attend quarterly board meetings, take minutes and set the board dates annually
  • Assist in accounting related matters at various reporting entities
- and other special projects as required


Qualifications:


  • A qualified accountant (CA, CPA, CGA, CMA) fluent in accounting principles, practices and systems with 5+ years experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication ability
  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • Welldeveloped problem solving and analytical abilities
  • A team player with the ability to work towards and achieve strategic goals
  • Ability to keep current on changing professional and regulatory standards
Ability to adapt to change


Salary:
$65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
