We provide interpretation and translation services to the non-profit and corporate sectors, with proceeds supporting Wesley's range of services for newcomers.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated
Interpreter who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment to our clients, families, staff, and customers.
If approved, you will be contacted for interpretation assignments on an on-call basis depending on your availability and service demand; there is no set number of hours per week.
Most of our services are in-person in the City of Hamilton (which includes Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook and Stoney Creek), Brantford and surrounding areas.
Wesley Interpretation Services offers translation and interpretation in many languages. The following languages are in high demand. However, we support additional languages and encourage applicants who speak any language fluently and who have experience to apply.- American Sign Language
- Assyrian
- Dari
- Farsi
- Kurdish
- Pashto
- Somali
- Swahili
- Tigrinya
- Ukrainian
- Urdu
- Provide interpretation services for home visits, medical appointments, counselling appointments, and events
- Provide telephone interpretation
- Message relay
- Communicate with Wesley staff, service customers, and program clients about interpretation requests and appointments
- Complete required service documentation including invoices for your services
What you will bring:
- Must have previous experience working as an interpreter
- Certified interpretation certificate and/or education in interpretation is a strong asset
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to speak the language fluently; written skills are also required
- Familiarity with social service agencies and the vulnerable population is an asset
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues and work with the vulnerable population
- Ability to access and use telecommunication technology
- Ability to provide accurate verbal interpretation to both client and staff member
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work without supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries
- Ability to arrive at onsite or remote assignments on time
