    Ontario Tech University acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. We are thankful to be welcomed on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered under the Williams Treaties and the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi.     The Faculty of Science at Ontario Tech University is dedicated to creating and sharing scientific knowledge and infusing the thrill of discovery while inspiring vision, determination, independence, critical thinking and integrity in our students and its researchers push the boundaries of scientific knowledge and excellence by studying diverse areas, which include Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Forensic Science, and Integrative Neuroscience, in a non-departmentalized, highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. The Faculty is committed to excellence and innovation in technology-enhanced teaching and research relevant to the needs of society and the environment, and our programs provide excellent opportunities for students to gain valuable knowledge, training and experience in core subject matter and across disciplines. Whether in class, the lab, or through experiential learning such as co-op or field work, the Faculty of Science emphasizes the development of leadership and communication skills in all of our students.

    Ontario Tech University seeks a Dean of the Faculty of Science . As the Chief Academic Officer of the Faculty, the Dean plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the Faculty, working closely with the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, as well as other members of the senior leadership team, to align its goals with the overall strategic objectives of the university. They also act as an ambassador for the Faculty, dedicating time to public-facing initiatives and building relationships within the community, in addition to overseeing academic programs, the budget, and operations.The Dean is committed to elevating the research profile of the Faculty, promoting a culture of scholarly excellence, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge within the academic community. The Dean should understand and will prioritize the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Finally, the Dean is ultimately responsible for student success and ensuring a positive student experience.

    The ideal candidate for this position should be an outstanding scholar eligible for appointment as a Full Professor, coupled with substantial administrative experience acquired in an academic environment. Success in this role demands a highly collegial and collaborative approach, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to build strong networks both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the candidate should exhibit a strong orientation toward relationship building, fostering connections both within the university and externally. Beyond these qualifications, a visionary perspective of academic trends, coupled with a commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and student success is crucial for advancing the Faculty's academic stature and contributing to its ongoing excellence and impact.
