This position will be responsible for customized design and implementation of a variety of complex AV control and monitoring systems for teaching spaces and other venues across all campuses of both institutions.

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all AV hardware devices within an AV control system communicate with each other properly and allows for remote access of devices as they relate to functionality.

This position requires a strong, up-to-date understanding of audio and video signals, both analog & digital, and how they are processed in today's AV systems.

A key aspect of the position is the ability to work independently and managing tasks to completion.

The incumbent will provide Level III campus wide support of networked AV control systems, interfacing AV hardware and remote access devices as they relate to AV equipment functionality, security status and preventative maintenance.


As well, the position provides AV service and support in response to service desk calls that require resolution and assists with AV events as required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Strategic planning and research of AV technologies:

  • Assists in strategic planning and research of AV technologies.
  • Makes recommendations on AV capital projects.
  • Exhibits accuracy, attention to detail, ability to work effectively and diplomatically in a team environment and ability to work in an atmosphere of multiple projects and shifting priorities.

Analysis, Integration, installations & repairs of AV technology:
The incumbent is responsible for specialized technical analysis, Integration, installations & repairs of AV technology.

  • Execution of board level repairs
  • Support digital and analog AV signals & protocols
  • Design AV system layout drawings, wiring diagrams, complex logic code programming, keypad, touch screen graphical user interface (GUI)
  • Carry out wiring and testing for all aspects of functionality and performance.
  • Responsible for the design, programming, repair and support of AV technologies including switchers, sound, displays and touch panels.
  • Provides guidance to AV peers on advanced AV configurations
  • Maintains contact with manufacturers on latest software/firmware updates
    .

Equipment Installation

  • In collaboration with the team, the A/V Support Specialist:
  • Evaluates and recommends new equipment purchases.
  • Works closely with management to design and develop instructional technology installations.
  • Assists in verification of equipment for assigned projects.
  • Participates in the installation of operational and capital projects.

Network AV Hardware:


  • Liaise with IT network administrators regarding IP addressing, VLAN segregation and network data port terminations and switch connections.
  • Utilize, install and maintain remote control/monitoring tools for facilitating AV networking; Examples of such components Include: displays, projectors, control systems and other network AV components.

Technical Support and Service

  • Provides AV service and support in response to service desk calls that require resolution.
  • Resolves A/V Service calls that are received in the call ticketing system to address and resolve incidents and requests.
  • Interprets A/V service manuals, documents, technical information notes and user guides.
  • Assists with AV events as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A minimum of a 3year diploma and or a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Broadcasting, Media Arts, Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Networking or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in AV programming, design
