As an active member of the leadership team for our Ministry Unit, the Community Ministries Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for all Community Family Services (CFS) programs/services/mission partners, supporting strong community engagement and innovative partnerships.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Accountabilities:


  • Ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
  • Agree and adhere to the salvation army mission, values, and standards.
  • Direct and supervise a small CFS team, providing support to all CFS staff so that they may develop spiritually and to ensure that they work together to achieve the purposes of the organization and enhance the ministries of The Salvation Army.
  • Represent the salvation army at agency and community meetings as directed.
  • Foster positive relations with community social services agencies/resources
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP/PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:


  • Work with leadership to grow and enhance a current framework for CFS, ensuring ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and that a spiritual focus is applied to all program initiatives.
  • In collaboration with leadership revise and adjust the program plan for CFS.
  • May coordinate/organize annual donation and fundraising efforts and/or special or seasonal programs (Christmas kettle campaign, food drives, donation drives, Christmas hamper, toy distribution, summer camps, community meals, emergency disaster services) etc.)
  • Direct and supervise CFS staff, assisting with selection, orientation, training, evaluation, and discipline; ensure employee safety in compliance with health & safety standards, monitors and analyzes incident reports.
  • Design/develop unique programs in line with overarching program plan and work with leadership to ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements.
  • Responsible for ongoing program evaluation.
  • Responsible for ongoing asset mapping of local social services programs for the benefit of the ministry unit and its staff and guests.
  • Approve staff absences (sickness, vacation, etc.) in HR system.
  • May serve as pathway of hope lead or Chaplain.
  • Supports leadership in the ongoing stewarding and expansion of the ministry unit's donor base.

GUEST SERVICES:


  • Pray and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with guests, staff, and volunteers, enabling them to become part of the body of Christ, as appropriate (including linking to the church family and church programs where possible).
  • Ensure proper maintenance of case management and record keeping for guests within CFS.
  • Ensure routine intake processes and decisions are following standard procedures.
  • Oversee emergency assistance services (i.e., Food, clothing, etc.) in accordance with policy.
  • Through fostering and exemplifying empathetic care, ensure guests are assisted in determining an appropriate and mutually agreed upon goal processes, facilitating effective problemsolving behaviours of the guest/family.
  • Assist guests in making connections within the community by making meaningful referrals to community resources.
  • Network with other service providers and maintain working relationships with community agencies to ensure comprehensive services are provided for guests.

ADMINISTRATION:


  • Ensure adherence to applicable legislation and keep accurate files and statistical records.
  • Provide written reports as requested by leadership.
  • Ensure accurate reporting within CFS and documentation of link2feed database is maintained at all times.
  • As an active member of the leadership team, participate in appropriate committees.
  • Support development of annual budget for the ministry unit.
  • Responsible to monitor. department revenues and expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Identify appropriate plans/strategies for responding to revenue shortfalls and expense overruns.
  • Receive (and/or decline) and sort/organize nonmonetary donations.
  • Assist in the organization of the CFS office, donation centre, program space and ministry unit.
  • Responsible for record keeping and procedures to meet health & safety requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


Education/Certifications:


  • Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Completion of a formal postsecondary/college program of 2 academic years in a related field (e.g., Social Work)
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification
  • First Aid Level 1 certification
  • Good team and interpersonal skills
  • Able to handle physical demands, which include lifting/carrying items more than 40 pounds.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • Note: an alternative level of education and experience may be considered.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of prior related experience, including experience in a wide range of social service programs, managing people and resources, and communicating orally
