Payroll Manager - Calgary, Canada - InSync
Description
We are looking for aPayroll Manager for a
12-month contract position with possible extensions in
Calgary, Alberta.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week.
It is NOT a remote role.
Role Description
Responsibilities
- Manage overall payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and time for all employees (salaried, fixed rate, temporary, expatriates).
- Oversee and manage all aspects of SAP Time and Schedule including queries, configuration, and maintenance of schedules.
- Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions.
- Conduct audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy. Facilitate investigation of data discrepancies/errors and resolve in a timely manner.
- Stay up to date with changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports, including yearend tax forms, to government authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee the maintenance of payroll software, ensuring it aligns with Canadian payroll regulations and internal policies.
- Manage sensitive employee information ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding payrollrelated inquiries, issues, and policies.
- Collaborate with external auditors during payroll audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Coach, mentor, and develop payroll team members, fostering a collaborative, efficient and highperforming work environment.
- Seeks opportunities to improve/enhance payroll and time processes, provide insights and recommendations.
Required Skills and Experience

Professional certification such as the Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is highly desirable

5+ years of related managerial experience

Experience with a large ERP payroll system such as SAP and demonstrated experience in optimizing payroll systems

Extensive experience in Canadian payroll management, including a strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop a team.
- Robust system experience with ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and payroll best practices.
