    Job Duties
  • Digital Integration Centre of Excellence (DICE) is an NSERC funded Technology Access Centre within Saskatchewan Polytech located at Innovation Place in Saskatoon. Reporting to the Research Manager, the Research Associate will be assigned to multiple projects where they will follow the guidance of Senior Researchers. The position will require working collaboratively with various industry partners/clients to help with their digital needs. DICE focuses on Computer Science related research such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Asset Management, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, and Timesensitive Networking and Mesh Communication.
  • QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
    Specific Accountabilities

Duties

  • 1. Undertakes project related activities in concert with the principal investigator;
  • Establishes and implements project plans, budgets, and research with senior research associate and project manager.
  • Recruits, mentors and supervises student research assistants and research technologists as deemed necessary by the project scope.
  • Work closely with the SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises) in the performance of research activities. This will involve planning and leading meetings with the SME's primary research contact in addition to meetings with other research personnel to ensure project progress.
  • Determines and develops methods, experiments and / or technologies to be used for the project.
  • Under mínimal guidance, executes technical experiments following appropriate laboratory / technical procedures.
  • Makes detailed observations and analyzes data to provide an interpretation of results.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including proposal development, progress reports, and final detailed technical reports as required.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

  • A minimum fouryear degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Preference will be given to graduate degrees in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated technical foundation of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Demonstrated skills or ability to quickly acquire skills in data preparation, data analysis, AI / ML, SQL / NoSQL, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Must be able to provide technical assistance to others in a wide range of codingbased activities.
  • Effective problemsolving skills with strict attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrates valuing diversity.
  • WHMIS and laboratory safety trained or willing to obtain this training.
