**Job Description:
Intern-Student / Bridges and Structures
Parsons, as part of the Marigold Infrastructure Partners* ( MIP), has a Co-Op opportunity providing support to our MIP Construction Team

  • Buildings and Structures for the Edmonton Valley Line West (
    EVLW) LRT.


The duties will be varied and will focus on tasks/activities required to meet our needs and environmental, safety and design compliance obligations.


Individuals with excellent attention to detail, comfortable with moderate levels of repetitive administrative tasks, and strong communication and interpersonal skills will excel in this role.

Site office-based position. Previous construction site experience preferred.


STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: 4 month term, commencing May 2024, located in Edmonton, Alberta

Specific responsibilities are listed below.


HOURS OF WORK:
Our business hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m.; however, the student may be required to work overtime hours, including weekend and evening availability as needed, to participate in the completion of a monitoring task.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Field Coordinators, Foremen, and Superintendents with daytoday construction coordination activities as required
  • Compile Daily Site Reports as contemporary records of work completed, issues encountered, and labour and equipment usage for the task on site.
  • Assist Field Coordinators coordinate and attend direct and independent testing and inspections as required, in conjunction with Field Coordinator, Quality Coordinator, and/or thirdparty agency (e.g., concrete surface preparation, rebar inspections, formwork inspections, postpour inspections, etc.)
  • Assist Field Coordinators coordinate all survey needs as required, including layout, grade, plumbness checks, prepour survey checks, postpour asbuilts, etc.
  • Assist Field Coordinators coordinate inspection, testing, submittal of documentation and completion of quality checklists as part of the Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Identify issues on site, and compile and submit Site Queries as required to the Engineer of Record.
  • Assist Field Coordinators coordinate concrete placements as required by issuing pour notifications (minimum 48 hours notice), scheduling concrete pumps as required, scheduling concrete and concrete testers.
  • Maintain daily log of readymix concrete (by mix), operated hourly crane and concrete pump usage, dump trucks, etc.
  • Complete quantity takeoffs and maintain an uptodate record of quantities for progress tracking purposes.
  • Proactively identify any deficiencies and ensure Non-Conformance Reports are promptly submitted by the Field Coordinator.
  • Ensure any Non-Conformances are promptly rectified in accordance with the approved corrective action plan.
  • Maintain electronic set of asbuilt drawings for operation assigned.
  • Ensure files are kept uptodate and maintain on the SharePoint filing system
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Other administrative duties as required. Must be selfmotivated and work well with minimum or no direct supervision.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Experience in the construction industry is a strong asset.
  • Class 5 DL (GDL acceptable)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask/ Service orientated.
  • Thrive on a fastpaced environment.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
