Course description:
The second university physics course primarily for students not intending to pursue a Specialist or Major program in Physical or Mathematical Sciences


Topics include:
electricity, magnetism, light, optics, special relativity.

Lectures:
Monday 2:00pm-4:00pm; Wednesday 2:00pm-4:00pm; Friday 2:00pm-4:00pm


Practicals:
Monday and Wednesday 4:00pm-6:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm

Minimum Qualifications:


  • PhD in Physics required
  • Previous experience in teaching introductory physics at the University level required

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience and demonstrated ability in teaching a similar course

Description of duties:


  • Coordination of an undergraduate course
  • Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course
  • Supervision and training of teaching assistant(s) assigned to course, including overseeing the TAs DDAH forms
  • Preparation, supervision and grading of tests and examinations in accordance with University regulations; submission of final grades
  • Providing scheduled office hours for academic counseling of students
  • Responsible for working with the teaching team (including the Practicals Coordinator and teaching assistants assigned to course) throughout the semester to make sure the course is delivered smoothly
