Manager, First Nations Research & Knowledge Exchange

Contract:

(Working from home is an option in line with FNHA's work policy - minimum of two days a week in office).


About the role


As MANAGER, FIRST NATIONS RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE, you will implement and execute FNHA health and wellness priorities by conducting holistic research, gathering and analyzing information and data for the purpose of accurate and confident decision-making to support the strategic goals of the organization.

You will provide strategic leadership, expertise and advice to the Executive and key stakeholders.

You will oversee a small research team with the aim of creating a research unit that will be successful in securing grant funds for research projects working with both internal and external partners.


You will lead the process of resolving complex research problems after obtaining multi-level inputs and buy-in from multiple stakeholders including researchers within FNHA, the management team, regions and First Nations communities.

You will lead the process of evaluating potential new external research projects and/or partnerships, contribute to FNHA research communications and knowledge management, and participate in organization-wide events and discussions on related health and wellness topics/projects.


About you
You have knowledge of population-based preventive and treatment interventions.

Recent and relevant experience in an Aboriginal or indigenous setting and experience with public health and policy research are assets.

You have experience in knowledge translation and presentation to communities, clinicians, researchers, and decision-makers.

Education & Experience

  • You have a Ph.
D.

in health services research with a focus on Indigenous people's health and wellbeing or in a health related specialty area such as in the social sciences, population/public health, epidemiology, or related disciplines.

-A Master's degree may also be considered.

  • You have significant, recent and relevant experience (68 years or more) providing strategic leadership and overseeing a small team of researchers, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have 5+ years of qualitative and quantitative research, report and publication writing and experience writing manuscripts for publication
