About Us:


Alberta Treasury Board and Finance is responsible for budget planning, financial management and economic analysis, as well as the administration of tax and revenue programs.

The Business Analyst position is part of the Continuous Improvement and Supports branch within the Office of the Controller. The branch is responsible for supporting the advancement of financial services to achieve top talent and financial excellence.


The branch:

  • Leads the development of specialized financial processes and multidisciplinary relationships to modernize and optimize performance, minimize risks, and enhance efficiencies within the APS finance community; and
  • Drives the development and implementation of strategies to support talent development, cultural transformation, change management and internal communications across the Alberta Public Service (APS) finance community;

Role:

The Business Analyst plays an important role towards modernizing financial processes across the Alberta Public Service.

Working closely with the Director of Continuous Improvement and Supports, this position will be an effective champion of change while leading projects towards success.

This position is responsible for defining, designing and facilitating the implementation of continuous improvement programs and projects to ensure that activities and initiatives are integrated across the finance community.


In addition, a key part of this role involves providing consultation, advisory services, business and process improvement expertise to enable continuous improvement across the APS.


Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive business analysis services for business and process improvement changes and lead process development and redesign efforts to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of process changes to achieve the desired future state.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance business analysis guidelines, standards, workflows, best practices and governance to ensure that the needs of the finance community are met and are developed and maintained to deliver best value to business users.
  • Provide consultation, advisory services, business and process improvement expertise to enable continuous improvement of business process design.
  • Support the business change process to ensure that changes are delivered in a thoughtful and informed manner.
  • Provide input into the development, design, build, testing and implementation of a wide range of solutions that meet business needs and objectives of the finance community.
  • Providing project management and change management guidance, as well as consultative services to APS finance areas and working groups as required.

Qualifications:


University degree in a related field (Social Science, Public Administration, and Business Administration) supplemented with a minimum of four (4) years related experience.

  • Change management and project management experience
  • Utilization of Internal communications and issues management techniques
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:

  • One year of experience for one year of education; or
  • One year of education for one year of experience
