Position Overview:


The Education Director will work closely with the VP of education to develop SHN academic educational mandate, which will include the development of the Network's role as the anchor site of the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH).

They will play a crucial role in fulfilling the academic educational mission of the organization, by ensuring the seamless integration and coordination of educational activities, as well as the development and support of educators and learners within SAMIH.

Collaboration with educational leaders and the University of Toronto will be a key aspect of this role. The director must be knowledgeable in the SHN and University of Toronto policies. The Director will sit on the SAMIH Steering committee's and over see the progress of the working groups.

The Education Director is responsible for ensuring that the future education centre meets the needs of not only the learners and educators but the SHN, and external collaborators.

The Education Director will be responsible for executing plans related to expansion of the education footprint of the network with educational and industry partners.

Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with the VP of Education to develop and implement the academic educational mandate for SHN, with a specific emphasis on the role of SAMIH.
  • Lead the seamless integration and coordination of educational activities within SAMIH, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Support the development and mentorship of educators and learners within SAMIH, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with educational leaders and stakeholders, including the University of Toronto, to enhance educational programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of SHN and University of Toronto policies, ensuring compliance and adherence throughout educational activities.
  • Service as a point of contact between SHN and University of Toronto, working to ensure that policies and value are aligning with the development of SAMIH
  • Build strategic partnerships with Academic institutes
  • Analyze and access how partnerships can be optimized to enhance educational offerings and opportunities
  • Serve as a member of the SAMIH Steering Committee, overseeing the progress of working groups and initiatives, and, serving as a member of working groups as decided by SHN
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the future education centre meets the evolving needs of learners, educators, SHN, and external collaborators.
  • Create and analyze financial reports, manage departmental budget and costs.
  • Identify operational and staff budget requirements. Review and authorize expenditures within budget and approved limits
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of the education department staff, and oversee the onboarding process
  • Work closely with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and its Departments department education leads, and other educators to develop the education program
  • Attend Board meetings as required by the VP Education, and other meetings requiring Education presence as decided by the VP Education

Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant field required, Master's or PhD preferred
  • Previous experience (2 years minimum) in medical administration or education administration
  • Knowledgeable of hospital organizations
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills, supported by excellent verbal, written, and listening capabilities.
