    Description

    Temporary position for 3 months.

    As an immigration advisor, you help Desjardins's regulated immigration lawyers and consultants handle recruitment requests from employees and candidates for work permit approval and renewal activities for Desjardins. As a law student, you'll learn the basics of Canadian immigration law at both the provincial and federal levels. You'll help the team keep an eye on the legal side and answer questions from foreign workers, international students and working refugees at Desjardins. You interact with stakeholders working in other fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you'll be asked to :

  • Help manage the immigration process, sometimes internally and sometimes with partners.
  • Work directly with managers and employees to gather documents and information.
  • Help produce official documents and forms for submission to government authorities to obtain or renew work permits for Quebec and Ontario.
  • Support employees under work permits by ensuring that immigration files are compliant and status updates are followed.
  • Help managers and employees deal with immigration challenges before hiring or during employment to identify the best possible solutions.
  • Assist with the response to government audits, consolidating the required information and providing the applicable documents over time.
  • Produce analysis and statistics from time to time related to operations.
  • Coordinate complex files with immigration suppliers.

  • Bachelor's degree in Law in progress
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with (language)-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Knowledge of economic immigration
  • Knowledge of the Office 365 suite
  • Decision quality, Interpersonal Savvy
