The OHS Compliance Specialist/Project Coordinator focuses on the development and maintenance of OHS programs, policies, training and projects to successfully achieve the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) Accreditation standard through the Ministry of Labour, immigrations, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD).

This will create alignment with WRH's Strategic Plan and enhance WRH's ability to promote a culture of quality and safety while supporting staff, professional staff and volunteers so they are able to care for patients and each other.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement strategies to maintain WRH's involvement with WSIB's Health and Safety Excellence

Program in an effort to support the OHS Program and Continuous Improvement Plan

Execute and implement the Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) Program

Develop, execute and monitor the effective implementation of policies, procedures, programs and guidelines associated with occupational health and safety managemen

Identify and assess health and safety management risks and ensure effective contingency planning and emergency response systems are in place

Coordinate health and safety training for supervisors/managers and ensure records are accurate and current

To address compliance, collect, analyze and prepare health and safety management information and statistical data necessary for report generation and for planning and decision-making purpose

Overview and upkeep of OHS policy library

Sit as a resource member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee

Participate in OHS related committees and working groups as required

Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary diploma in Occupational Health & Safety preferred, and/or relevant experience in the Health & Safety field

Certified Safety Professional or Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation or working towards certification preferred

Proven experience in developing and delivering health & safety training programs

A sound analytical thinker with demonstrated understanding of community and hospital systems

Excellent presentation and facilitator skills

Strong organizational skills

Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

French Language proficiency an asset
