The Industry Relations Advisor is responsible for increasing adoption of GS1 Canada Standards and Industry Managed Services (IMS) within their allocated Tier 2 Data Providers (manufacturers).

This role is a key contributor to delivering critical mass adoption for our Industry Managed Solutions (IMS) and Data Recipients.

The incumbent is responsible for increasing adoption of GS1 Canada standards and Industry Managed Solutions (IMS) by engaging with subscribers in their portfolio and collaborating to support specific Data Recipients to actively engage and support subscribers through the complete IMS implementation.

This position is a key contributor to delivering data integrity by enabling Data Providers to implement the IMS required by their trading partners.


Key metrics for this role may include:
Cost recovery targets, Data Provider Engagement targets, Service adoption targets, Retention targets, Campaign effectiveness, CRM Updates.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain KYC and key contact information for all accounts within portfolio;
  • Contacts target Data Providers to convey value, features and benefits of GS1 Canada's IMS;
  • Engages with defined audience of Data Providers to establish and maintain relationships with specific business process users to effectively promote, convert and implement identified IMSs to ensure they meet their Trading Partners' IMS requirements;
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally to achieve multisector board deliverables;
  • Drives engagement in existing and any new IMS including, but not limited to: New Item Introduction, Marketing Content, eCommerce Content, Pharmaceutical Content, Shelf Management Content, Enhanced Assets or Product Recall;
  • Based on specific project objectives and business drivers, uses business process and services knowledge to influence industry adoption of specific IMS;
  • Educate Subscribers on GS1 Canada standards and IMS, their value and pricing, their interdependencies, and handle objections in order to meet cost recovery targets;
  • Creates and leverages tools to increase the pace of IMS adoption and drive cost recovery;.
  • Retention of existing IMS subscriptions for assigned Data Providers;
  • Obtain feedback from subscribers regarding potential service enhancements and share with relevant internal teams;
  • Actively monitors and acts on reports to progress Data Providers through the IMS implementation process, close content gaps and follow up on overdue product submissions;
  • Contributes to reporting of project deliverables for leadership meetings and updates.
  • Participation in Industry Trade Shows

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:


  • Completion of recognized College Diploma in a related field preferred (i.e. Business, Retail Commerce, Supply Chain Management);
  • A minimum of 23 year's work experience, preferably in a customer service and/administrative capacity within the supply chain industry;
  • Knowledge of GS1 Canada, Barcoding Standards, GTIN Allocation Rules (Global Trade Identification Number), and ECCnet Registry an asset;
  • Demonstrated proven high level of proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint;
  • Experience with CRM software and best practices;
  • Excellent communication and persuasive skills to interact with internal peers, and external stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to set priorities and manage many projects simultaneously;
  • Creative problem solver with business acumen and an aptitude for process management;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, exhibiting a consistent, positive and approachable manner;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit suited for pastpaced, resultsbased environment, requiring flexibility to everchanging needs.
  • Ability to travel to participate in Industry Trade Shows (5%)
