  • As a Report Disclosure Specialist, you will act a liaison between the Calgary Police Service (CPS) and various public, government, and private agencies. You will support the collection and dissemination of information pertaining to criminal and traffic accident reports, in accordance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation and the Traffic Safety Act (TSA).

Primary duties include:

  • Investigate and respond to law firms, insurance companies, and individual requests, regarding traffic and criminal reports.
Review and redact reports, as required; ensure all sensitive material (including statements and office disclosure concerns) are removed.

  • Liaise with the Traffic Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Crime Scene Unit, Calgary 911, engineering consulting firms, insurance and law companies, and the public, with regards to obtaining authorization to release documents and complete customer requests.
Interpret and analyze documents received for incoming Outside Agency Requests (OAR), and for outgoing internal agency requests. Coordinate the transfer of files to the appropriate police section and/or unit for follow-up.

Reconcile fee schedule payments, including processing case, cheques, debit, and credit card payments received and consolidate fees for daily deposit.

Qualifications
***A high school diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED) and a minimum of 3 years of related experience is required.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preference will be given to applicants with working experience using Niche (Sentry) records management system, Content Service, and/or Adobe Acrobat DC.

Experience in information dissemination, redacting and encryption is an asset.

Valuable assets also include an understanding and/or previous working experience with the TSA, the Criminal Code, the Alberta Transportation Extranet E-Collision system, and/or FOIP.

The successful applicant will be competent in communication, efficiency and thoroughness, focus on results, relationship building, service orientation, stress tolerance, and team building and teamwork.
