Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world's foremost repertory theatre companies.

It operates year-round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of events designed to deepen understanding of the plays.

For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world's most dedicated and experienced arts workers.

The role of a Food Prep employee at the Stratford Festival is to provide our Guests, Members, Staff and Company with an excellent dining experience.

You will prepare food items for the Staff Greenroom, Festival Theatre Café, Tom Patterson Theatre Café, Internal and External Catering Events.

This position is responsible for the food production, sanitation, and organization associated with its designated station.

Provided the proper training and equipment, you will be able to meet your job objectives, working in accordance with Stratford Festival's policies and procedures.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare cold food items for various Festival Food & Beverage outlets
  • Process raw ingredients using techniques such as chopping, slicing, mixing and peeling
  • Prepare food orders as needed within the appropriate time frame
  • Transport food products to designated areas in the building and monitor inventory levels
  • Monitor food items to ensure consistency, proper portioning, appropriate temperatures and correct ingredients
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; following all organizational and governmental health and safety standards
  • Collect dishes in guest areas and wash dishes/kitchenware when the Kitchen Steward is unavailable
  • Maintain a clean and tidy appearance at all times, adhering to established uniform standards
  • Organize storage areas and assist with inventory counts as needed
  • Represent the Stratford Festival in a polite and professional manner at all times
  • Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Prior kitchen experience is considered an asset
  • Flexible availability to work a variety of operating hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Proficiency in English: verbal and written communication
  • Any other culinary related diplomas or certificates considered an asset
