What You Bring:

Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Transportation Administration (or working towards). A combination of related training and experience will be considered
Several years of progressively responsible experience in Transportation Operations
Labour and employee relations experience
Experience managing budgets and overseeing shop/vehicle maintenance
Desire to lead large teams and encourage them to perform at their very best
Proven ability to engage employees and develop strategies to increase retention
Exceptional organizational, communication, analytic problem solving, and diplomacy skills
Knowledge with Computer Hardware, Associated Software and Systems (i.e. vehicle tracking (AVL), scheduling (HASTUS) dispatching (Spare On-Demand), etc.)

- "Lead by Example" attitude towards all staff

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Outlook)

What You Do:

Inspire, coach, mentor, build, develop, and support a team of dedicated professionals to deliver business objectives
Create a working environment that is aligned with the organization's desire to be Employer of Choice, ensuring that people resources possess the required skills, are properly aligned, and are provided with the resources to do the job
Implement initiatives designed to increase employee engagement and improve recruitment and retention
Administer and manage relevant operating agreements, budgets, and contracts; review and approve expenditures and service standards; meet service delivery objectives and manage division activities within budgetary limits
Forecast, document and report Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transit operations and develop strategies to correct problem areas
Remain current with latest transportation technology systems and procedures
Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transit operations
Negotiate collective agreements
Conduct collision/incident and customer complaint investigations and make recommendations and action plans
