Primary Function:

BC Place is looking for Part-Time Technicians to join the Facility Operations team. This position supports the staging of events including conversion activities of the stadium to different configurations.

We are looking for motivated team members who supports the department in an efficient and safe manner to meet conversion and event schedules.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Follow BC Place Policies and Procedures and safety guidelines;
  • Work in all aspects of building/field conversions from one event to another (i.e. sports events, tradeshows, and concerts);
  • Forklift operation to support operations tasks and materials handling for clients;
  • Assist with event setup and operation during moveins and moveouts (e.g. setups and tear downs);
  • Assist with installation and removal of protective Turf flooring;
  • Operate various machines, tools and equipment that may include forklift, scissor lift, sweeper scrubber, etc.;
  • Provide minor repair, general labour and material handling as required;
  • Maintain grounds (e.g. weeding and lawn mowing);
  • Perform elevated area window washing, power washing, and snow removal;
  • Assist with the preparation of the facility for various functions by performing such duties as moving furniture and equipment, setting up audiovisual equipment and materials, and providing assistance to the event organizers;
  • Provide service excellence to guests, other employees and the general public;
  • To perform all maintenance and upkeep duties in accordance with posted maintenance checklists;
  • To complete other duties as assigned by the Crew Lead for the general maintenance and upkeep of the Facility on the basis of need and the individual's ability to perform the tasks;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Experience in a similar role in the event or service industry would be an asset;
  • Solid command of the English language both written and verbal;
  • Must be safety conscious and willing to follow safety policies and procedures;
  • Experience with labour intensive work;
  • Good physical condition, with ability to lift 50 lbs;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fastpaced environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, follow instruction and work independently or with a team;
  • Experience in performing general maintenance duties;
  • Willing and able to maintain a respectable public image and conduct;
  • Demonstrated ability to have positive interactions with the general public and colleagues;
  • Required to have certified safety footwear;
  • Ability to work weekends and overnight/graveyard shifts;
  • Mechanical experience is an asset;
  • Valid forklift operator's certificate an asset.

Rate of Pay:
$22.71 per hour
