Line Haul Driver - Dartmouth, Canada - ATS Healthcare

Dartmouth, NS
Workdays:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Shift Start Time: 6:30PM to 1:00AM _
This is a Night Shift_

THIS IS A 3 MONTH TEMPORARY CONTRACT POSITION
- POSSIBLE OF EXTENSION
What you will do:
- _
Drive a Refrigerated tractor trailer on a dedicated route from Dartmouth, NS to Moncton, NB and back_
- Deliver freights in good condition and within scheduled time _
(1 to 3 pickups a day)_ - Use a handheld device to scan documents and freights
Lift up to 50lbs. Dolley provided. Some skid work with the use of a manual pallet jack to offload freight at times_
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Complete any necessary paperwork accurately
- Perform all safety checks, including pretrip and posttrip inspection
- Report on all safety hazards and accidents
- Use a cellular phone to communicate with dispatch ie. Truck breakdowns, delivery concerns, answer calls, texts etc.
- Provide excellent customer service
- Build strong client relationships
- Adhere to safety and compliance regulations
- Additional duties as required
What you will get:

Hourly paid ($21.00/hr. ):
- Paid biweekly
Home daily; No long haul or US deliveries
- Paid Comprehensive training program
- Safety boot allowance (if extended beyond 3 months)
- Uniform allowance and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
What we require of you:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver's License
- Clean Commercial Driver's Abstract
- Line haul/Reefer experience is an asset
- Minimum 1 year proven Commercial Truck driving experience
- Ability to drive and sit for long hours
Lift up to 50lbs with the use of a dolley or manual pallet jack to offload freight at times_
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
- Customer Focus experience providing quality customer service
- Adaptable to change and or foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
- Experience working in a fast paced environment
- Experience working independently and with mínimal supervision
- Ability to work on a team and being a team player
- Must be comfortable with using onboard or handheld computer devices
- Must have a safety and compliance mind set
