Dartmouth, NS


Workdays:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Shift Start Time: 6:30PM to 1:00AM _
This is a Night Shift_
Applicable Statutory Holidays

THIS IS A 3 MONTH TEMPORARY CONTRACT POSITION
  • POSSIBLE OF EXTENSION_

What you will do:

- _
Drive a Refrigerated tractor trailer on a dedicated route from Dartmouth, NS to Moncton, NB and back_

  • Deliver freights in good condition and within scheduled time _
    (1 to 3 pickups a day)_
  • Use a handheld device to scan documents and freights
- _
Lift up to 50lbs. Dolley provided. Some skid work with the use of a manual pallet jack to offload freight at times_

  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Complete any necessary paperwork accurately
  • Perform all safety checks, including pretrip and posttrip inspection
  • Report on all safety hazards and accidents
  • Use a cellular phone to communicate with dispatch ie. Truck breakdowns, delivery concerns, answer calls, texts etc.
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Build strong client relationships
  • Adhere to safety and compliance regulations
  • Additional duties as required

What you will get:

Hourly paid ($21.00/hr. ):


  • Paid biweekly

Home daily; No long haul or US deliveries

  • Paid Comprehensive training program
  • Safety boot allowance (if extended beyond 3 months)
  • Uniform allowance and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

What we require of you:


  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver's License
  • Clean Commercial Driver's Abstract
  • Line haul/Reefer experience is an asset
  • Minimum 1 year proven Commercial Truck driving experience
  • Ability to drive and sit for long hours

  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
  • Customer Focus experience providing quality customer service
  • Adaptable to change and or foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment
  • Experience working independently and with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work on a team and being a team player
  • Must be comfortable with using onboard or handheld computer devices
  • Must have a safety and compliance mind set
