WBF removes barriers between unemployed and underemployed women and resilient careers in which women are currently under-represented - the trades, operating and driving industries.

WBF is enacting a renewed strategy that surrounds growth of impact across Alberta and other provinces. A new organizational structure has been designed to help ensure this strategy is achieved. Many roles have been re-envisioned as part of this. It is an exciting time, come join our team

The Role


The Director of External Relations and Growth at Women Building Futures is an exciting leadership role that empowers you to shape the organization's trajectory in advancing women's economic security.

As the strategic architect, you will spearhead innovative plans to cultivate partnerships with government agencies and corporations, propelling the mission forward.

Your dynamic vision will drive fundraising efforts, ensuring the financial sustainability of programs that uplift and empower women.

Serving as main voice for the organization, you will passionately advocate for policies supporting women in the workforce, while also managing public relations.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team, inspire community engagement, and pioneer initiatives that redefine the landscape for women in non-traditional careers.

GROWTH AT WOMEN BUILDING FUTURES
At Women Building Futures, our vision of growth transcends the conventional notion of expanding our physical footprint. While some organizations prioritize regional expansion, our primary focus is on amplifying our impact. We aim to empower as many women as possible, fostering their journey towards economic security. Our mission is to uplift and support women on a larger scale.

By 2026, we have set a bold target of positively influencing the lives of 300 Albertan women annually and have sustained programming supporting women in Saskatchewan and Ontario.

It's crucial to understand that our commitment to physical expansion is driven by the compelling desire to enhance the economic security of women, underlining our dedication to making a meaningful and widespread difference in the lives of those we serve.


Organizational Leadership:
Inspire and empower employees to do quality and impactful work in an environment of continuous growth and development.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team engage in development, implementation and oversight of strategy, operational plans, policies and budgets ultimately ensuring that WBF achieves desired impact and results.

Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of external relations professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.


Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement strategic plans to drive external relations and organizational growth. Collaborate with key stakeholders to align external relations initiatives with the organization's strategy, mission and goals.


Partnership Development:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including government agencies, corporations, unions, and associations. Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration and partnership that enhance the organization's reach and impact.


Fundraising and Resource Mobilization:
Lead fundraising efforts to secure financial support from various sources, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors.

Lead and execute proposal development related to industry partnership development in collaboration with the CEO and proposal development team/leadership team as appropriate.


Thought Leadership:
Serve as a spokesperson for Women Building Futures, representing the organization in media appearances, conferences, and public events. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities to enhance the organization's external relations strategies continuously.


Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
Integrate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of external relations and growth efforts. Ability to champion and advance diversity and inclusion within employer partnerships.


Advocacy and Government Relations:

Advocate for policies and initiatives that align with the organization's mission and support the advancement of women in non-traditional careers.

Establish and maintain relationships with government officials and policymakers to influence positive change.


Metrics and Reporting:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of external relations and growth in
