Warehouse Associate - Brampton, Canada - The Linde Group
Description
Primary Purpose:
The Cylinder Handler performs a variety of duties related to the loading, preparation, filling, and shipping of cylinders as required.
Key Accountabilities:
- Load / unload trucks confirming cylinder quantities, styles and product mix
- This requires the shunting of trucks, the use of a forklift and proficiency in cylinder handling
- Put away stock, count cylinder loads and warehouse housekeeping
- Fill cylinders as required
- Perform visual, physical and odor tests on cylinders before filling and determine whether retesting and /or repairs are necessary
- Complete and maintain quality control documentation per company and governmental requirements
- Meet established standards for productivity and quality
- Shift is Monday to Friday 5 AM to 1 PM
Qualifications
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 12 years related experience within a plant or distribution environment
- Forklift operation experience preferred
- DZ/Class 3 license preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Safety conscious and commitment
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Must be dependable and accountable (attendance and punctuality)
- Able to manipulate a variety of cylinder sizes and weights as required
- Able to operate and cylinder filling station and analytical equipment
- Knowledge of gas cylinders
- A team player who can work within tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail
- Good computer skills
- Strong teamwork, problem solving and organizational skills
Physical and Sensory Demands:
- Lifting, pushing, pulling heavy objects
- Must be able to stand for several hours at a time
- Must be able to detect distinct odours
Working Environment:
- Industrial plant production environment
- Shifts may include morning, day, night, weekends, dependent on business need
