Position: Labourer / Forklift Driver

Status: Permanent full-time position
Schedule: 40 hours/week, Day shift, 4 days/week, Monday to Thursday
Start Date: Immediately (Flexible date)
Location: 20 minutes East from downtown Ottawa- Gatineau

Reporting to the Foreman, the Labourer/Forklift Driver transports loads of various steel materials to each of the workstations on the production line 30% of the time outside the plant and 70% of the time inside the plant to ensure they have the proper materials for assembly.. Transport steel materials and pallets to prearranged staging area using sit down forklift. In addition, he/she ensures that all the tasks he/she performs are carried out in compliance with health and safety rules, laws and regulations as well as company policies.

More specifically, he/she is called upon to:

• Transport and feed the production lines with steel materials to various staging area using sit-down forklift
• Manually or using the forklift, sort and dispose of scrap materials in proper bin and areas
• Maintain the work floor and traffic area in a safe, clean and orderly condition
• Notify supervisory team of any production, inventory or quality problems
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment as required
• Collaborate with the Health and Safety Committee to implement innovative solutions
• And all other related responsibilities

• To have a four (4) day work schedule, during the day and all your weekends off
• Industrial Park located only 20 minutes East from downtown Ottawa-Gatineau
• 2 fixed vacation periods: Two (2) weeks in summer and two (2) weeks in winter

The candidate must be able to drive the forklift safely and ensure the production line doesn't miss supplies, by showing initiative and prioritize safe work, cooperation, transparency, rigor and respect.

Requirements and Skills:

• A valid forklift license is preferred
• Experience in driving a standard propane sit-down forklift
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset
• Be able to work in the outdoor yard (rain or shine) 30% of the time
• Punctual, reliable and professional
• Good knowledge of either French or English, oral and written (Bilingualism an asset)
• Ability to work safely at all times and a good sense of humor are essential
