Position Title Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Hourly Rate $30.00/hr, 40 hrs per week

Scope:


Reporting to the HR Director, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll and benefits processes in the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process biweekly payroll for 260+ hourly employees
  • Audit system time entries and timecard corrections for accuracy
  • Yearend processing of T4, T4A and T2200
  • Process biweekly and monthly remittances such as payroll taxes, EHT, WSIB, union dues.
  • Process Service Canada requests and issuing Records of Employment, as required
  • Maintain accurate employee profiles of new hires and terminations
  • Develops and maintains payroll reports for use by finance staff
  • Prepare and update wages and benefit budgets
  • Ensure accurate and timely entering of all timesheets, hours, and accruals
  • Adheres to policies and procedures and the collective agreement at all times
  • Provide ongoing assistance to management team for payroll, reporting and navigation of Nav payroll system
  • Administration of company benefit and pension plans
  • Responds to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll in a timely manner
  • Clear and timely communication with managers and staff regarding payroll concerns
  • Maintains currency with regards to legislation affecting the organization's activities
  • In conjunction with management develops solutions to inform staff of new and updated policies and procedures pertaining to payroll
  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers etc.
  • Performs daily payroll operations
  • Manages workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Complete understanding of benefit vacation and statutory holidayrelated calculations
  • Completes ad hoc reports and provides updates as required
  • Process payroll and stipends with adherence to deadlines
  • Develops, manages and maintains comprehensive payroll records
  • Reviews and verifies source documents, researching anomalies when necessary
  • Performs any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification and minimum 3 years of fullcycle payroll experience required
  • Experience with Microsoft NAV Dynamics a strong asset
  • Strong computer literacy and willingness to improve skills
  • Strong and highly developed organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively with mínimal supervision
  • Experience in a unionized environment an asset

$30.00 per hour
