General Accountability:


Reporting to the AVP, Treasury Finance, the Manager is a key member of the Shared Services team with a primary focus on supporting Treasury Finance's reporting, research, modeling, and analytical requirements.

The incumbent will maintain various Treasury Finance models, report on capital market activities, support capital and funding initiatives, conduct quantitative research and act as a key resource in enhancing the information value of Treasury reports.

Additionally, this role will support other activities required by the Head of External and Sustainable Funding.


The position will require interaction and collaboration with Group Planning and Investor Relations, as well as other areas within the Treasury & Capital Management and within the Company.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for Treasury Finance input into the Strategic Plan; maintain financial models to generate and communicate the results of plan funding and capital actions on key metrics including leverage ratios and dividend payout ratios; update models with earnings and capital forecasts quarterly and as needed; work closely with stakeholders (Capital, Corporate Controllers, etc.) to ensure changes in plan assumptions or forecast are well communicated and reflected in Treasury and Capital models.
  • Produce pro forma financial analysis to reflect the impacts of proposed funding or capital actions on key metrics; assess the impacts of new/existing regulatory standards on financing and funding; act as the key resource to support Treasury Senior management analytical requirements on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Support Treasury's input into the annual Financial Condition Testing ("FCT") and Recovery Plan exercises; work collaboratively with Capital and other internal stakeholders to gather necessary inputs; run models incorporating Treasury actions and other scenarios; communicate and present results to stakeholders.
  • Provide support for Treasurymanaged programs including Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP), Normal Course Issuer Bid (NCIB), Green Bond framework and reporting.
  • Responsible for valuation of the Company's debt and capital instruments for external reporting; liaise with dealers to obtain necessary quotes; perform valuation of internal securities.
  • Lead the production of existing quarterly reports to monitor Treasury activities, including capital and funding, weighted average cost of capital, profile of outstanding instruments, capital structure, capital market monitors, quarterly treasury finance fact sheet, and dividend peer analysis etc.
  • Oversee the banking relationship and balance of trade reporting process, which includes the collection, analysis and reporting of banking data across all business areas.
  • Conduct peer research primarily focused on capital structure, financial leverage, capital retention, deployment initiatives and dividend payout patterns, and consolidate information into quarterly reports for Treasury Senior Management.
  • Maintain responsibility for updating Treasury Finance slides used for roadshows, investor meetings, Investor Day, MFC Board Meetings, and other presentations.
  • Support the Shared Services team by embracing collaboration and crosstraining.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of ongoing processes and increase the value of reports.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:


  • University degree, preferable in Business/Finance.
  • CFA designation (or working towards) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Corporate Treasury, Finance, Investments or Capital.
  • Specific knowledge and experience in capital management activities, capital market instruments and funding mechanisms.
  • Strong business acumen, with a good understanding of the business/financial environment.
  • Very strong PowerPoint, spreadsheet, and financial modelling skills; working knowledge of Bloomberg is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze various scenarios and provide insight into financial results.
  • Highly flexible, comfortable working with evolving/changing priorities and under tight timelines.
  • Ability to effectively manage internal and external expectations in a dynamic, fastpaced, and demanding environment.
  • Independent and proactive, with the ability to take on new projects/tasks with little supervision.
