SHY Day Camp Coordinator (Contract)

$18.90/hr - $21.00/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • Previous YMCA day camp or day camp experience is an asset;
  • Supervisory experience is an asset;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;

Available evenings and weekends from June 12th to 25th for training;:


  • Available full-time weekdays from May through August;:
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and Responsibilities include;

  • Provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for children registered in YMCA Calgary Day Camps;
  • Provide proactive supervision and facilitate daily activities;
  • Work alongside and collaborate with other Day Camp Coordinators;
  • Create and organize activity schedules for camps; review activity plans created by camp counsellors; implement weekly themes;
  • Oversee camps; Supervise and evaluate all camp counsellors on an ongoing basis; demonstrate high standards of program quality while working directly with counsellors;
  • Providing supervision, guidance, and supporting counsellors;
  • Supervise weekly field trips offsite;
  • Demonstrate and role model positive behavior when working with other staff, campers and members;
  • Follow YMCA Calgary Policies and Procedures;
  • Provide first aid when required;
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of weekly staff meetings;
  • Greet parents/guardians and campers on arrival and departure from camp. Providing extra assistance and daily updates as needed;
  • Attend 32hours of mandatory staff training prior to the start of camp.
