WORK ILLUSTRATION:


The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Proactively conducts and consolidates detailed jurisdictional research and stakeholder engagement on emerging policy issues and regulatory framework requirements to maintain regulatory compliance and identify opportunities, mitigate risks for advancement.
  • Builds and fosters external stakeholder relationships to influence positive policy and regulatory outcomes.
  • Represents Toronto Hydro in highly politicized and highrisk situations affecting brand and reputation, including sector working groups and industry associations, as well as broader corporate interests.
  • Serves as Toronto Hydro's liaison with government officials to resolve issues, identify and mitigate broader corporate risks, and in the promotion of positive customer and stakeholder experience.
  • Provides analysis, advice and recommendations to senior leaders on regulatory strategy, policy development, government relations advocacy, issues management and compliance matters in support of corporate objectives; including policy considerations, compliance, reporting and communications.
  • Participates in crossfunctional projects and initiatives representing the regulatory team.
  • Supports the development of processes to continuously improve regulatory systems and enhance the alignment between internal partners and the regulatory team.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Economics, Public Policy/Administration, Business Administration, Engineering or a related degree: preference will be given to a Masters level degree in any of the above fields.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in energy, regulatory, and/or ratemaking policy matters with the Ontario Energy Board and/or the Independent Electricity System Operator (or their equivalents in other jurisdictions).
  • Strong understanding of Ontario's energy agencies, stakeholders, and interests.
  • Deep knowledge of emerging policy issues relevant to regulated utilities, such as distributed energy resources, electric vehicles and utility regulation.
  • Considerable experience and comfort providing briefings and generating required materials (PowerPoint, Word)
  • Critical thinking and problemsolving skills, including experience using Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and advocacy skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal policy development processes.
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.

Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.

You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. #LI-Hybrid
