SUMMARY


The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial accounting and analysis to support the Controller and the Finance Group for the one of the divisions of the business.

Responsibilities encompass monthly financial close and reporting, assisting with monthly forecasts and annual budgets. The role is a hybrid role of approximately 70/30 FP&A vs Accounting duties.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting of results and business metrics
  • Maintain databases and ensure accuracy of monthly innovative sales and inventory days reporting
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses at the business unit level
  • Prepare daily sales report and support Customer/Product sales database (PowerBi)
  • Assist Controller with monthly sales forecast and annual business unit budgets
  • Calculate and submit quarterly supplier plant rebate submissions and monthly accruals
  • Maintain monthly account reconciliations for specific Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled timely within the month end cycle, and that adjustments are made promptly
  • Prepare monthly entries, maintain, and perform analysis for various accounts, including AP accruals, fixed asset and COGS accounts
  • Support commodity taxes calculations and remittances
  • Respond to inquiries (internal and external) for financial information and analysis
  • Participate in various annual inventory counts
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in processes and systems
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, as applicable

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires University degree or college diploma in Accounting/Finance
  • Working towards or possess Formal Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Strong background and work experience in accounting and reporting
  • Minimum 2 years proficiency with ERP Accounting system in a large company setting
  • Experience with JDE and/or SAP BPC is an asset
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot tables and data manipulation
  • Strong exposure to databases and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, utilizing effective time management
  • Strong communication, active listening and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to embrace and encourage teamwork
