Job Description:

This position is responsible for the administration of the College's Insurance, Contracts and Risk Management portfolios.

The Manager acts as a liaison with the University, College and Institution Protection Program (UCIPP) as administered by the Risk Management Branch (RMB) of the British Columbia Ministry of Finance, in conjunction with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.


The Manager advises and guides the members of the College community concerning risk management, insurance, and contract management in support of the College's academic programs, applied research initiatives and institutional operations.


Reporting to the Director, Risk and Internal Controls, the Manager Organizational Risk provides leadership to promote, foster and grow a risk culture that is critical to the achievement of the College's governance, as well as its strategic and operational objectives and priorities.


Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of a degree in business or related discipline.
  • Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation preferred.
  • Completion of or enrollment in CIP Designation program.
  • Five (5) years demonstrated contract and insurance management experience in an environment of similar scope and complexity (preferably within postsecondary education).
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of risk management and loss control principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of contract law, indemnity, waivers, contract negotiation, risk management and risk transfer.
  • Knowledge of the BC postsecondary system is an asset.
  • Knowledge of BC contract law and insurance is an asset.
  • Experience working in a large, complex organization is an asset.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with mínimal supervision, work as a team member, use tact/diplomacy and meet work performance standards set by the College.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Willingness to acquire skills as new activities are undertaken and changes in technology occur.
  • Advanced computer skills with superior knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office product.
