The Mental Health in Schools Pilot Grant is funded through AB Education and has been created to provide a comprehensive and layered approach to support student mental health.
At WCPS the focus of this support is to increase universal social and emotional learning, caregiver-oriented supports as well as provide additional training for school staff.
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program Facilitators provides universal preventative social emotional programming to children and youth.Reporting directly to the Director of Safe and Caring Schools, the SEL Program Facilitator assists in developing and delivering developmentally appropriate, evidence based programming that meets the objectives of the Wolf Creek Public Schools Social Emotional Learning framework.
Delivery of programming involves universal classroom programming in schools as well as staff and parent/community member presentations.Assignment:
- Parttime 0.60 FTE, 10 months per year
- Duties to commence May 22, 2023 and continue until December 2024.
Duties:
- Facilitate classroom programming from Kindergarten to High School grade levels
- Work collaboratively with the Education Services department and with school staff
- Work with the Social Emotional Learning Team to provide input on universal programs and work continuously to improve, and meet student needs
- Develop, pilot, and implement new programs, services, and resources in collaboration with the other team members as requested or required
- Evaluate (data collection) and modify programs, services, and resources in collaboration with the other team members as requested or required
- Provide professional development opportunities for school staff
- Provide parent programs
Qualifications and/or Assets**:
- A related postsecondary degree or diploma in social sciences is preferred or relevant courses and experience
- At least 2 years working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role
- Experience with delivering programming and comfortable with facilitating classroom programing from Kindergarten to High School grade levels
- Strong presentation skills
- Knowledge of the developmental, educational, social and emotional needs of children and youth
- Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries
- Understanding of parent/child relationships and family dynamics
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Takes initiative and is able to work independently as well as in teams
- Creative problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
- Flexibility
- Ability to track statistics
- Computer literate (google programs)
- Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle
