Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
- Develops multimedia and traditional content in support of the 2024 International ACAC conference, which is in line with branding needs of Western University, the International ACAC organization
- Creates strategic communications plans in collaboration with leadership, workback schedules, and evaluation for the event
- Liaises and consults with key stakeholders and vendors both internal and external
- Ensures this event provides strong, consistent positioning of Western as one of the top universities in the country and internationally
- Provides support and guidance to ensure effective and accurate communications that comply with related legislation, and University policies and procedures
- Keep abreast of current marketing and content development best practices and identify new opportunities, trends, marketing, and messaging related to the event
- Follows a content development workflow for the website and other digital channels, including timelines, stakeholder approvals, and stakeholder involvement
- Oversees the planning, organization and publishing of website content from a communications and reputation management perspective for the 2024 International ACAC Conference
- Supports the development of media such as video and photography (for advertisements, social media, web banners, virtual tour platform); conceptualizing, storyboarding, and project management
Qualifications:
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism/Media or related program
Experience:
- 2 years' experience in a communications, marketing, or journalism/media related field with an emphasis on digital communications
- Experience overseeing event logistics and coordination
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a postsecondary environment
- Experience implementing communications plans, marketing and/or journalism, with responsibility for managing projects and developing communications
- Familiarity with ecommunication tools including website and graphic design principles and with social media platforms relevant to student populations
- Knowledge of theory and best practices in content strategy and of marketing trends and best practices
- Familiarity with principles of writing, including grammar and style, argument, and coherence
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University
- Communication skills to engage audiences, with confidence interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated intercultural competency and knowledge of crosscultural research and work practices
- Ability to quickly adjust priorities in response to unexpected events or changing circumstances
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with content management systems (e.g. Cascade), and with file management and transfer systems
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, such as Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere preferred
- Demonstrated photography and videography skills, including production planning, scripting, filming plans and related logistics to tell a wide range of stories
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
