    Power System Engineer Mississauga

    Work location: Mississauga Within the Energy team, as a Power System Engineer: Your responsibilities

    1. Participate in power system simulations experience with CYMDIST on power flows, voltage stability, transient stability, fault contribution and protection coordination;
    2. Participate in the validate generator application documentation and determine the impact of renewable generation under various loading conditions by using CYMDIST software;
    3. Participate in station and distribution system modelling, and translate the system information such as station transformers data and arrangement, feeder arrangement and conductor sizes, impedances, bus and feeder protections (relays, breakers, fuses), generator data and more with the associated software;
    4. Participate in preparing necessary estimates, drafting implementation schedules, reviewing and certifying Form B, following up on execution of CCRA and support to both internal and external stakeholders;
    5. Help engineers in providing final reports which summarize the overall project including timelines while ensuring power quality, system adequacy, system reliability, system compatibility and compliant work execution;
    6. Participate in grounding studies and related reports, including protection coordination studies, short circuit calculations, relay settings, CT saturation checks, AC/DC load studies, etc.;
    7. Participate in completing protection and control design on operating ranges for generators, network upgrade requirements (conductor upgrade), protection upgrades (DGEO, Directional and Breaker failure protection), metering requirements (bi-directional metering);
    8. Participate in performing quality assurance (QA) checks on engineering packages and documents;
    9. Provide support for the preparation of estimates and proposals for the bids prepared by Energy department;
    10. Offer customer support and problem resolution with respect to the associated project, product, process, and quality system.

    Your profile

    Bachelor degree in Electrical engineering with 1 to 5 years of relevant distribution planning and analysis experience either with an electric utility or with an electric utility consulting company;

    Experience with generator connection impact assessment and ability to perform power system load flow, load allocation, fault analysis, short circuit studies, voltage sag, load balancing, capacitor placement and sizing, motor rating, batch analysis etc. (asset);

    Experience with distribution planning, distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection impact, arc flash, micro grid analysis, and protection coordination (asset);

    Experience with ETAP, PSS/E, EMTP, ASPEN OneLiner, Siemen's CAPE, or PSCAD (asset);

    Experience and skills in the areas of: T&D protection and control detail designs (schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts bills of materials, and cable lists), settings and logic diagrams, report preparation, maintenance and troubleshooting, project planning and scheduling, progress reporting, estimating, negotiations with clients and vendors, resource management, training, communications, decision making and planning and organization (asset);

    Experience with CYMEDIST Software (asset);

    Must possess strong written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills;
