The Winnipeg Humane Society ("WHS") is offering a unique and rewarding opportunity
for a qualified
ONE HEALTH SPECIALIST. The One Health Specialist is responsible
for planning, implementing, seeking sustainable funding, and coordinating the delivery
of programs specifically designed to provide One Health with a focus on access to
veterinary care to communities in need. The One Health Specialist has a key focus on
engagement and relationship building with Indigenous Peoples and communities in
order to expand reach and educate on the WHS One Health Program.

Reporting to the Manager of Education (for HR payroll purposes and the Chief
Engagement Officer for strategy, direction, and performance, the One Health Specialist
is expected to independently carry out established responsibilities while also working
directly and collaboratively with the Clinic Outreach Assistant, the Clinic Outreach
Team, and all other department staff.

Due to the significant cultural requirements of the position, this position is designated for
be eligible for further consideration.

This is a full-time permanent position. Some scheduling flexibility to attend work
events or meetings after hours may be expected. This position will be a hybrid of
working from home and in the office. When working in the office, it will be a shared
space.

_What you'll bring:

You are a collaborator who possesses strong interpersonal skills and is effective
communicator both orally and in writing. You are a diplomatic and consensus
collaborator, who is highly effective at bringing together individuals and communities
who may not be used to working together.


_What we're looking for:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency
  • Preference will be given to Indigenous peoples
  • Project management experience
  • 2 years of experience in a similar position such as outreach, community
- development or project management.
  • Cultural sensitivity and communityrelations experience to ensure respectful
engagement and relationship building with communities WHS will be working
with.

  • Relationship and project management experience.

The following qualifications and experience are desired and would be considered

assets:


  • Post-Secondary Education
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree and/or Dene language

- support program outcomes.
  • Proven track record working with animal rescues, First Nations, Veterinarians,
- and Registered Veterinarian Technologists.
  • Experience in animal care or related field.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit environment.
