Champlain College Lennoxville s seeking the services of a DATA PROCESSING TECHNICIAN, to work on a full-time basis for the department of Information Technology.


FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Coordinator of Information Technology, the incumbent will be responsible for providing data processing support to Regular Day computer labs as well as to various administrative departments and services.

Support will include installation, maintenance, and operation of computers, workstations, peripherals and networks, as well as the physical set-up of labs.

The incumbent will also provide technical support to all users on computer network as well as other telecommunication systems.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Respond to user requests:
a. Carry out different operations in order to respond to users' requests;
b. Verify all pending requests;
c. Evaluate the problem or the need identified by the user;
e. Attempt to resolve the incident or problem or transfer it to upper hierarchy using the ticketing system;
f. Ensure the client/user is satisfied with the service and do all necessary follow ups.

Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of materials and software of the different technological devices of the College:
a. Install and configurate different software;
b. Prepare, install and support equipment configuration respecting the Colleges' rules and procedures;
c. Install software, make different updates and ensure they are functioning well;
d. Detect performance issues and make the necessary recommendations to improve their functioning;
e. Collaborate to the need analysis for the purchase of equipment and software;
f. Ensure that the policy on equipment utilization is followed;
g. Create, if needed, scripts and tools on the management of equipment.


  • Maintain an inventory system and location of technological equipment;
  • Insure programming and deployment of software configurations (SCCM)
  • Assume responsibility for technical assistance as well as repair on printers and make service calls, if needed;
  • Participate in the establishment of new work methods and new technologies;
  • Perform all other related duties, as required by the Coordinator of Information Technology

Requirements:

WORKING HOURS Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Must possess a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

Competencies
Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate in both English and French (oral and written).

Must be proficient in Macintosh and Microsoft networking software.

Must be knowledgeable in computer programming and system analysis.

Must demonstrate good PC and Macintosh troubleshooting skills.


Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, thirty-five hours per week. 9am until 5pm
