What Is The Opportunity:

Aecon is currently seeking a Safety Trainer to join the GO Rail Expansion (RER) project, located in the Greater Toronto Area.

This transformational project is the largest capital infrastructure project in Ontario's historic GO Rail Expansion program


What You Will Do Here:


  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, team participation, and motivation in all aspects of training.
  • Interface with construction and tooling staff to address training requirements and determine appropriate methods of delivery.
  • Support resolution of document revisions with the trainers and series leads.
  • Assist in the development of training material including lesson plans, practical evaluations, and written exams.
  • Participate in series training review meetings to document training related lessons learned and identify potential subsequent training developments.
  • Identify any gaps with QA, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and Human Performance training requirements to successfully educate skilled trades in the operation of the refurbishment toolset.
  • Liaise with operations and implementation leads to ensure training programs will meet project needs.
  • Use available metrics and analysis to identify and drive a continuous improvement training strategy.
  • Support identifying technical training requirements and creating material to successfully educate project team members to perform their assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Other duties as requested by the Safety Director.

What You Will Bring To The Team:

  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety, Construction, or a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) + years of construction experience.
  • Health and Safety certifications and accreditations (e.g. WHMIS, Working at Heights, Train the Trainer programs, Joint Health and Safety Committee)
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of legislation including but not limited to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canadian Standards Association, the Canada Labour Code, and other applicable Health and Safety regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
