    Engineer, Mechanical

NorthRiver Midstream (NorthRiver) is one of North America's leading gas gathering and processing businesses on an exciting path of expansion and innovation that's not slowing down. We do energy differently.

    Why work for us?

    • We are a lean, agile, customer-driven company with an asset base primarily located in the rich Montney reserves of Northeast British Columbia.
    • We have a proud and well-earned reputation for safe, reliable operations.
    • We've made real commitments to measurable emission reductions and sustainability, and our results back this up.
    • We have a verifiable track record of meaningful Indigenous partnership founded on mutual respect.
    • Our culture is one of partnership, collaboration, ownership and an unwavering commitment to finding solutions together.
    • We're a team that cares about each other. We've got each other's back.
    • We believe that the best ideas win, no matter where they come from.
    • We're the perfect size—lean and agile.
    • We're big enough that there are great opportunities for career growth and personal development.

    Who we're looking for:

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineering / EIT to join our all-star team. We're looking for:

    • A people person: We need someone who's a natural when it comes to building relationships—whether it's with customers, teammates, or anyone else you work with. You know how to connect, listen, and make people feel heard, especially when things get tough.
    • Flexible mindset: You're curious and flexible—the Swiss Army knife of capabilities. You thrive in situations where there isn't always a playbook and love coming up with creative ways to tackle challenges.
    • An effective communicator: You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences. You are an attentive listener, ensuring you fully understand others before responding and making space for different perspectives.
    • Someone who is results-oriented: You demonstrate a strong work ethic and approach every task with a positive, results-driven attitude. Your dedication and persistence inspire those around you, and your commitment to achieving goals ensures that objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

    What you'll do:

Here is a sample of what your workdays may look like:

    • Working in a field office or onsite at a gas processing facility; interacting daily with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
    • Identifying technical issues, risks, and value-adding opportunities.
    • Providing engineering leadership and participation in management of change (MOC), incident and failure analysis, and risk analysis activities.
    • Developing engineering work packages for repair or replacement of pressure equipment and piping.
    • Supporting capital and O&M processes by identifying and prioritizing risks, completing engineering investigations to provide root causes for solution development, supporting initial project submission processes, and providing subject‑matter‑expert input.
    • Delivering engineering governance and support accountabilities for major maintenance functions including facility maintenance shutdowns/turnarounds and large equipment overhauls.
    • Ensuring codes, regulations, and company and professional engineering requirements, practices, and standards are adhered to and consistently applied.
    • Fostering win‑win relationships with management teams, functional groups, operations personnel, project team members, key stakeholders and contractors.
    • Communicating risks, status, and actions through established reporting methods to ensure management and stakeholders are informed.
    • Analyzing facility diagrams to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety standards.

    What we offer:

    • A culture of continuous learning and mentorship from the best in the business (and fun).

    What you bring:

    Required

    • University degree in mechanical engineering discipline.
    • Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g. CSA, API, ASME).
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

    Preferred

    • Professional Engineering designation registered with one of the Canadian provincial associations.
    • Previous experience in the natural gas processing industry.
    • Working knowledge of pipeline standards and industry accepted practices, specifically CSA Z662 design code.
    • Experience applying root cause failure analysis (RCFA), hazard analysis, and risk assessment principles.
    • Familiarity with schematic drawings (P&ID, PFD).
    • Field-based engineering experience.

    Salary Range:

$70,000 - $95,000. Final compensation for this position will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate and will be aligned to internal equity.
