We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Procurement (Supplies) to join our Merchandising team in Langley, BC.


Reporting to the Director, Procurement, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of all regularly used supplies within a retail grocery environment including managing the cost of goods and establishing process and procedures that provide efficiencies and consistencies across the organization.


You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and managing procurement of all regularly used retail store supplies e.g. Operating Supplies, Packaging, Front End, Sundry and Fresh Departments.
  • Developing and implementing procurement and inventory control processes for retail store supplies throughout the company.
  • Developing vendor strategies to deliver on banner requirements and leading banner review meetings to determine leverage opportunities and synergies.
  • Achieving cost savings and efficiencies by negotiating favorable terms with suppliers and coordinating purchasing across diverse operations.
  • Negotiating with external/internal suppliers and distributors and managing supplier agreements.
  • Partnering with the Fresh Managers to understand requirements for supplies.
  • Identifying opportunities and communicating key metrics across banners and consolidating data for priority areas.
  • Working closely with Inventory Management, Transportation, and other key business areas to ensure consultation at relevant decision points.
  • Managing the approved budget.
  • Recommending category vendors based on banner listings and data.
  • Analyzing the performance of all supplies while proactively managing the introduction/discontinuation/optimization of the item mix within the category.
  • Responding to vendors issues.
  • Visiting trade shows and industry events and staying current on innovative and profitable solutions and ideas.

You have:

  • Postsecondary education in Business Administration or relevant discipline is an asset.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience in negotiating vendors contracts.
