- Support experienced pipefitters in fabricating piping systems for compression and process equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assist in installing piping and control systems, valves, and spools while ensuring compliance with project requirements and safety regulations.
- Prepare materials for fabrication and installation, including cutting, threading, and fitting pipes to required dimensions.
- Assist in handling/rigging and bolting of spools and conduct hydro testing on assemblies.
- Document work progress accurately, including material usage and hours worked.
- Read and interpret P&ID and GA drawings to assist with assembly processing piping systems.
- Use hand and power tools safely, maintaining and organizing equipment used in pipefitting activities.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and help others maintain theirs.
- Adhere to safety policies, conduct quality inspections, and participate in training sessions to enhance skills.
- Enrollment in or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in pipefitting.
- 1 year's experience as a pipefitter or labourer in a relevant department is beneficial.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical, alcohol, and drug tests.
- Familiarity with various pipe materials and grades is a plus.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and willingness to learn new skills.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression & Process is currently hiring an Apprentice Pipefitter for our Shepard Shop in Calgary. We are looking for a motivated individual for a four-month contract, offering the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and further develop skills under the guidance of experienced professionals. This role involves fabricating and installing piping systems for compression and process equipment in a dynamic work environment.
Shift Details: 5:50 a.m. - 4:20 p.m.
