Description

The Conference Services Coordinator ensures a high quality and professional image for all revenue generating space rentals, conferences, and events at Sheridan College.

They effectively contribute to the marketing, sales, execution, and delivery of this business stream.

What You'll be Doing


Selling, planning and developing an annual schedule of Sheridan activities, plus ad hoc activities, including events for internal and external communities and other purposes.

Organizing detailed logistics for on-site events in conjunction with other Sheridan departments and external partners; Providing one of two principal points of contact between Sheridan and the external community, to solicit and coordinate facility rentals, conferences or other revenue generating events at Sheridan.

Coordinating client and residence related events within the context of overall Sheridan events, maintaining a high level of customer service and good relationships with various internal departments and external clients and suppliers of goods and services.

Promoting and marketing classroom and facility rentals, filming on campus, conference centre rentals and residence accommodations bookings through the offering of additional Sheridan facilities and services.

Preparing detailed client rental contracts and invoices, processing and recording event payments and preparing accurate records of charges for accounts receivables.

Supervising and assisting with set-up and take-down for events, including all physical and technical aspects.

Administering the College Liquor Licence in accordance with College policy and the Ontario Liquor Licence Act by overseeing all operations of the theatre and special event bar.

Performing other related duties as assigned.

About You


You have a highly collaborative spirit and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with others to support establishing and achieving collective goals.


You enjoy balancing many different tasks, staying organized and planning and have the ability to integrate multiple streams of information, prioritize and track multiple projects to meet a demanding workload and keep things running smoothly.


You can develop a strategic approach for identifying new business opportunities with the ability to research potential customers, conduct cold outreach, and create new opportunities.

2-year diploma in Hospitality, Tourism, Event Management, Business, Public Relations or related field
5 years of practical experience with large scale, complex conference and event planning, execution and project management (Equivalency will be considered)
Knowledge of the Liquor Licencing Board of Ontario Acts is required.
Knowledge of Caterease software an asset.
Smart Serve Training and Certification required within six months of start date.
Availability to work outside of regular business hours is necessary (some mornings/evenings/weekends).
